TrendForce has lowered Apple’s iPhone 14 series shipments to 78.1 million units in 2022, according to a report released today.

TrendForce said Foxconn has been the exclusive assembler of the Pro series for years, but Apple had originally intended to find other manufacturers to join the production and assembly ranks based on risk management, and to try it out on the iPhone 14 Pro series.

The report points out that Foxconn’s crop rate has been affected by the epidemic, which has made Lixson Precision one of the iPhone 15 Pro Max assembly supply chains, and its iPhone foundry is still located in China, while the Vietnam plant is mainly around Apple, and there is no iPhone production line planned yet.

In terms of overseas production, the report says that in addition to the existing Indian production capacity doubling next year, the Vietnam plant is also scheduled to join production starting in mid-2023. The proportion of Apple’s manufacturing in India and Vietnam is expected to climb to 30-35% of total production capacity in the next few years.

TrendForce estimates that Apple’s iPhone shipments will drop to 47 million units in the first quarter of 2023, a 22 percent decline compared to the same period last year.
