Toyota to launch five new Bz all-electric vehicles in Europe, aiming for 50% all-electric penetration by 2030

At Toyota’s annual Kenshiki Forum, they outlined an enhanced strategy for electrification in Europe, which will include the launch of five all-electric models, including the bZ4X, by 2026. With these policies, Toyota hopes to accelerate its goal of selling 50 percent of its models electrified by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2040.

Toyota has already delivered one all-electric model — the bZ4X, which opens Toyota’s new “bZ” family of pure electric vehicles, and last month brought a new bZ concept car to the Los Angeles Auto Show.

At the Kenshiki Forum, Toyota outlined a more aggressive electric vehicle strategy (at least for Europe) with five new “bZ” models planned, including a small sedan/SUV scheduled for launch next year.

Matt Harrison, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, said

"Overall, we currently have two areas of focus: the first is carbon neutrality and how we plan to achieve this in our business areas; the second is how we will achieve a mobile future as we transition from a manufacturing and sales company to a mobility service provider."

Harrison said they will launch five new bZ models in Europe, starting with a small electric sedan to be launched next year. According to Automotive News Europe, Toyota will also launch an all-electric SUV.

Harrison also revealed that Toyota’s move to expand its bZ models in Europe demonstrates its “clear commitment to pure electric vehicles”; in addition to the three larger models, they also plan to sell other pure electric vehicles overseas over the next three years, including compact SUVs and crossovers.

Of course, the Toyota bZ SUV concept was also on display in Brussels, and a source familiar with Toyota’s products said that a production version of the concept, which could be named the bZ3X, is planned for the compact SUV market in 2025.
