Toyota released the fifth generation of Intelligent Electric Hybrid Engine

Toyota’s fifth-generation “Smart Electric Hybrid” system will be equipped with a newly developed lithium-ion battery system, which is 34% smaller and 44% lighter, while adopting a smaller, high-rpm motor to increase power output while reducing losses, with a 19% reduction in energy loss and a 32% increase in output power for the high-rpm motor.

As for the electronic control system, the PCU power control unit has significantly increased power density, achieved 17% lighter weight, reduced energy loss by 10%, and increased current output by more than 8% (120A → 130A).

Toyota has formed an electrification technology line including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, pure electric, and hydrogen-electric. In the future, GAC Toyota’s hybrid products will be fully equipped with the latest generation of the intelligent electric-hybrid dual-engine system.

In 2023, Toyota will release and upgrade 12 dual-engine products to realize the entire range of TNGA vehicles. bZ Pure Electric brand will introduce a new model developed by GAC Group, Toyota and GAC Toyota in the future. In addition, GAC Toyota plans to reach 60% of sales of electrified models by 2025 and 100% by 2035.
