Topband released sodium-ion battery: energy density 120Wh/kg

0

Topband released a sodium-ion battery at the 15th Shenzhen International Battery Technology Exhibition, with a nominal capacity of 9.0Ah, a nominal voltage of 3.0V, and a voltage range of 1.5-4.0 V. The energy density of Topband sodium-ion batteries can reach 120Wh/kg, and the cycle life can reach more than 2500 times.

It is learned from the official that the cost of raw materials of Topband sodium-ion batteries is about 50% lower than that of ordinary lithium-ion batteries, the positive electrode is reduced by about 50%, the negative electrode is reduced by about 20%, the electrolyte is reduced by about 15%, and the current collector is reduced by about 10%. The total cost can be reduced by about 30%.

In an ultra-low temperature environment, lithium-ion batteries often have problems such as electrode deactivation, reduced electrolyte fluidity, and reduced electrochemical reaction rate. Topband claims that the discharge capacity of its sodium-ion batteries at -40°C is close to 80%.

Topband sodium-ion batteries can realize 3C charging and 5C discharging at the same time, and the power can reach more than 90% after charging for 20 minutes. Topband expects that by 2025, its sodium-ion battery will be able to achieve an energy density of ≥160Wh/kg and a cycle life of ≥6000 times.
