Tom Henderson denies Sony will launch PS5 Pro, says it’s just a revision of PS5

Sony is set to release an improved version of its PlayStation 5 console in April this year, with a downsized console mold and a removable optical drive, according to multiple sources.

However, recently, tipster Abhishek Yadav cited an anonymous source who claimed that Sony will launch a new PS5 Pro as early as April 2023, diverging from the previous revelations.

This morning, Tom Henderson, a reliable source in the gaming world, posted several messages questioning the PS5 Pro, suggesting that the new console will not be a Pro or Slim version, but just a “gen 2” version of the PS5.

Tom Henderson says he thinks Sony’s goal is to reduce the number of PS5 models in order to reduce production costs and complexity. Releasing a Pro version of the console might have been a good business move in the past, but in this era of chip and component shortages, it doesn’t make much sense.

Also, his sources haven’t heard much about the PS5 Pro, and even the PS6 is more talked about than the PS5 Pro.

The Leak’s source claims that the new Playstation 5, due out next year, has undergone a major change in appearance, with a new “slim” version that reduces the size of the console’s mold and uses less voltage, so it runs cooler and is lighter.

In addition, sources say that Sony is also aiming to eliminate the need for a stand to support the console when it is laid flat, a change that could indicate that the new Playstation 5 will abandon its current streamlined design. The company’s focus is on reducing the Playstation 5’s size and weight in order to reduce shipping and production costs.
