According to a report by SamMobile, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will feature a new OLED touch panel screen. Samsung claims that this is the world’s first OLED panel for laptops with an integrated touchscreen.

Samsung Display says that integrating the touchscreen panel into the display reduces the overall thickness and complexity of the screen. This approach is also more environmentally friendly as it does not require the addition of an extra plastic film for the separate touchscreen layer.

Samsung Display says OLED panels have been a trend in notebooks in recent years and the company plans to develop larger OCTA (On-Cell Touch AMOLED) panels for notebooks.

The difficulty of touch integration technology rises significantly with the increase in the display area, resulting in an increase in the number of touch sensors required,” said Hojung Lee, product planning team leader of Samsung Display’s Small and Medium Size Display Division. By developing new materials and process technologies, we are able to achieve a natural feel and touch response for larger displays”.
