There’s nothing left to stop the leap in phone charging speeds, and the Realme GT Neo5 is expected to arrive soon with reports that it will be the first phone to support the 240W SuperVOOC fast charging solution. The charging technology will be announced on January 5, and today, actual images of the charger, which has more power than a gaming laptop, have appeared online.
The adapter, model number VCKCJACH and branded SuperVOOC, is shown with 20V power and 12A current.
The SuperVOOC naming is generally linked to OPPO, but the brand shares R&D with Realme, so it’s safe to say that Realme will use the same adapter; we don’t yet know if the company will bring a new name for its own brand. The source also revealed that there will also be a weaker charging GT Neo5 on the market, with “only” 150W of charging power.
The Realme GT Neo5 will have two battery cells, each with its own charge pump, which will allow for greater and safer power distribution. The 20V/12A power from the adapter will be distributed to the equivalent of 10V/24A once it reaches the smartphone.
