Tesla’s Model S and Model X innovative Yoke steering wheel although it looks very sci-fi, however, not all owners like this steering wheel, some people think it does not meet the traditional driving habits, but also not convenient to operate. To meet the needs of this group of owners, Tesla has launched a round steering wheel conversion kit overseas, which is now available for purchase through the Tesla App.
According to reports, Tesla’s Model S / X round steering wheel retrofit kit is priced at $700 (currently about RMB 4,830), which includes the cost of installing the round steering wheel by a Tesla service technician.
Note that the kit is only available for the Model S and Model X with the Yoke steering wheel, a steering wheel that Tesla CEO Elon Musk admired so much that its initial introduction sparked a strong reaction, with some people loving its edginess and sci-fi feel and others disgusted by it.
Although Musk said the Yoke steering wheel would remain, Tesla listened to users and eventually offered a round steering wheel option for the Model S and Model X.
In addition, it is reported that Tesla’s future Cybertruck electric pickup truck may also offer two steering wheel options. In an interview earlier this year, Tesla’s chief vehicle designer said they were leaning toward a Yoke steering wheel for the Cybertruck, but given how users would react to such a wheel, Tesla may make the Cybertruck available with a round steering wheel as well.
It is worth mentioning that Chinese users can directly choose either the round steering wheel or the Yoke steering wheel when purchasing the Model S / X on Tesla’s website.
