The report noted that despite the decline in numbers, the smartphone market will improve from January 2023. The total industry inventory balance/change remains negative for the month, indicating that major OEMs are still in inventory adjustments this month.

In terms of brands, it is learned from the TechInsights report that Samsung regained first place in both shipments and sales, while Apple retreated to second place, followed by Xiaomi, OPPO (including OnePlus), and Vivo. Other vendors in the top ten include Transsion, Honor, Realme, Lenovo-Motorola, and Huawei.

In addition, TechInsights previously expected global smartphone shipments to decline slightly in 2023, down 1% year-on-year; and to grow 3% year-on-year in 2024. In 2023, global phone (handset) shipments will decline by 4% year-on-year, and rebound to a year-on-year increase of 2% in 2024.
