Valve officially released the OLED version of the Steam Deck game handheld console today. In an interview with IGN media, Valve designer Lawrence Yang said that native dual-boot support has always been a “priority” option, but it was previously focused on developing the OLED version of Steam Deck, so it was delayed.

Note: Many players have been looking forward to Valve providing native dual-boot support, which allows the Steam Deck handheld console to run SteamOS and Microsoft Windows systems at the same time, making it easier to access Game Pass, Cloud and some Microsoft game services.

Yang promised users that native dual-boot support is always the “first priority”. After the OLED version of Steam Deck is released, more focus will be placed on this feature and it will be provided to players as soon as possible.

Valve will add a new feature for Steam Deck users to adjust the color temperature of the screen in the upcoming SteamOS 3.5 update. This feature allows users to adjust the warmth or coolness of the colors displayed on the device screen according to their preferences.

The setting of screen color temperature provides a series of options, allowing users to try different degrees of color temperature changes. Here’s the difference between the default 7500K color temperature and turning it up to 11000K (using the default color vibrancy):

Currently, setting the color temperature of the screen is only available in the Main + Steam Deck Beta update channel. To use this feature, users must enable the developer mode and select the advanced update channel in the developer menu in the settings. The Beta update channel is frequently updated and may contain major bugs, so use it with caution. Users are advised to use the normal Steam Deck Stable/Beta update channel.

It is worth mentioning that SteamOS 3.5 will also introduce a color saturation setting.

Fever friend @balika011 recently released a tweet, said successfully transformed the Steam Deck game handheld, so that the memory capacity to expand to 32GB.

The whole process of modification is not easy, @balika011 said that the need to desolder the memory chip, and then re-soldering to install a larger capacity chip, the whole process is very complicated. It’s impossible to reproduce this modification for the average gamer who doesn’t have the necessary tools and skills.

Check @balika011 related tweets, he did not share the performance improvement after the memory expansion, just the sunshine picture showing the memory capacity of 30.2GB.

The Steam Deck comes standard with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, which is still plenty for running Linux and playing games, and Valve won’t be releasing a new Steam Deck with more RAM for a while.
