Despite its launch being in a few months, Geekbench scores of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 are available. These scores leak a few internal specifications of the coming foldable from Samsung. Such information as the processor, memory and Android version were all given away from the Geekbench ratings.

As we all know, devices in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip line-up have clamshell folding designs, meaning that they fold in half vertically. Over the years Samsung has made adjustments and improvements to newer flip devices, such as improvements to the hinges, internal and external screen displays, etc. This year’s flip model will not be an exception to receiving design and specification improvements.

The Galaxy Flip from last year made use of the Snapdragon 888 5G processor, but with newer processors out already, the coming flip device will step up its game. From the Geekbench leak, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will use the coming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor. Although not clearly stated in the Geekbench rating, information available is that the “Taro” codename refers to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 series. This Snapdragon chip will receive support from an 8GB worth of RAM powering this device.

For the operating system, this device will run Samsung custom One UI skin on Android 12. The screen size on this device will be similar to the previous model from last year. It’d as well support a 120Hz refresh rate for seamless scrolling and toggling within apps. The battery is to be a 3700mAh battery that’ll charge at 25W and also feature fast wireless charging.

More details on the specs and price of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will come directly from the company. But we can expect this device to have a similar price to last year’s flip model.

The race to launch a device using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor just got a new competitor, the ASUS ROG. The date for the launch of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+processor has seen some setbacks due to COVID-19 restrictions in manufacturing areas. Despite this delay, more smartphone companies are indicating interest in using this processor once it launches.

Previously, we could point out two notable competitors to first launch a device using the 8 Gen 1+ processor. Motorola and Xiaomi have two devices in the work which will use this coming processor. But, Xiaomi 12 Ultra will launch late into the second half of 2022 leaving Motorola as the company to first launch a device using the 8 Gen 1+ processor. But, Motorola now has new competition from the coming ASUS ROG phone.

In a Weibo post from Digital Chat Station, the blogger stated the presence of three smartphones to frontier the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. Among DCS mentions are, a gaming phone, an iterative machine, and a real camera flagship device. For the third mention, the blogger states that it’d launch late into the second half of the year. This revelation leaves only two devices in line to first launch a device using Qualcomm’s upcoming processor.

The previous models of the ASUS ROG phone from last year made use of the Snapdragon 888+ processor. It is only wise to make the same move to launch a device with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor. Since this device is a gaming smartphone, it will need max performance to run games and heavy tasks seamlessly.
