New leaked information points to a Motorola flagship as being the first device to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 plus processor. Xiaomi was the first brand to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip last year, but Motorola beat them at being the first device to sell with the Gen 1 chip. Motorola once again hopes to sell the first device using the upgraded version of the Gen 1 chip.
Leaked information strictly points to China as the country to launch the first 8 Gen 1 plus processor. Also, a Lenovo exec dropped an image of an unknown Motorola flagship device. This puts Motorola in line to gain first access to the 8 Gen 1 plus processor. Motorola might want to live up to launch the first device to use a Snapdragon processor for a second time.

Rumours have it that the Gen 1 plus processor will to use a Cortex X2, the large core is Cortex A710, and the smallest core is the Cortex A510. The GPU in use on this chip is the Adreno 730, with these adjustments to the previous 8 series processor. The fabrication process to be on the 8 Gen 1 plus is a 4nm TSMC process. We might see this processor announcement in May, and it’ll go into the smartphone production process in June.
With this possible launch, Motorola will have possession of the most advanced chipset on a device before any other manufacturer. We previously covered that Xiaomi 12 Ultra will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 plus, this puts Motorola in direct competition with Xiaomi again for the right to first use a Snapdragon flagship chip. What Motorola device will this processor be found in? More information about this supposed launch will come in the weeks or months ahead!
