According to Lenovo’s official website, its subsidiaries Motorola Mobility and Sharp have reached a global agreement on cross-patent licensing of their respective organizations’ wireless communication technologies.

Lenovo said it was pleased to have reached an agreement in which the two parties agreed on the fair value of each other’s investment portfolios, and both parties expressed their willingness to obtain licenses on a fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) basis.

Note: FRAND is a fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory term used by SSOs (an international standards organization) to restrict standard patent rights. It is usually used in Europe and the United States.

Lenovo said Motorola is a leading global handset vendor with a long history of innovation and iconic flagship devices such as the foldable razr, first launched in 2004 and relaunched in 2019. Lenovo continues to innovate and contribute to the advancement of cellular technologies across its portfolio, with companies globally licensing more than 1,900 patent families cited as critical to 3G, 4G and 5G standards.

Commenting on the agreement with Sharp, John Mulgrow, Lenovo Vice President and Global Head of Intellectual Property, said: “Our cross-licensing agreement with Sharp is an opportunity for the two companies to come together with mutual respect for each other’s investment and innovation, and to prepare to develop a FRAND A classic example of negotiating on the basis of Get affordable innovation with your own innovations and industry cross-licensing agreements.”

Sharp launched a AQUOS Sense8 mid-range phone, priced at 62,150 yen.

The machine weighs 159g and measures 153 x 71 x 8.4mm. It uses an aluminum unibody design and an IP68 dustproof and waterproof rating. The battery capacity is increased to 5000mAh (the previous generation was 4570mAh), and colorful colors are available.

Sharp AQUOS Sense8 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset. Compared with Sense7’s Snapdragon 695, the official test CPU speed is increased by 36% and the GPU speed is increased by 33%. The phone comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.

The machine is equipped with a 6.1-inch IGZO OLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2432, a screen brightness of up to 1300 nits, a variable refresh rate of 1-90Hz, and support for “black frame insertion”, which is claimed to extend the experience to 180Hz. The previous generation only had a 60Hz screen.

In terms of imaging, the main camera (1/1.55″) of the machine is equipped with a 50MP sensor with a pixel size of 1.0μm and supports pixel binning to 2.0μm. Sharp today released 25.3/13.3-inch color ink screen “ePoster”, used as electronic posters and signs, model EP-C251 and EP-C131, respectively.
