Rufus today released the 4.2.4070 Beta update, focusing on fixing the problem of software crashes after users try to open the 32-bit (x86) version of the Windows ISO image.

This update also adds detection and warnings for bootloaders with revoked UEFI.

This update blocks dangerous UEFI executables based on the Secure Boot Forbidden Signature Database, as well as Microsoft’s Secure Boot DBX blacklist.

The new version also adds support for ZIP64, which means users can now extract .zip images larger than 4GB. It is also now possible to add or restore disks as compressed Virtual Hard Disk v2 (VHDX) images, as well as experimental support for Full Flash Update (FFU) images.

FFU is sector-based, as opposed to file-based WIM (Windows Image File Format), which means that FFU can be deployed faster, although you end up with larger file sizes.

Rufus is a tool that helps format and create bootable USB drives for Windows, Linux, Android-x86 and other operating systems.
