Some users were prompted with a “Hey Google” disabled warning after connecting the Pixel Buds Pro headset. “Voice Match is disabled because the device does not currently support the selected Assistant language,” Google said. The suggested solution is “Select supported languages in Assistant language settings”, with links to those preferences.

But these users did not change their language (there are individual reports that it has been set to US, UK and Australian English) to trigger the bug. Hotword detection continues to work on their other Pixel (phone and watch) devices.

The Google Assistant on the Pixel Buds Pro can still use “touch and press” gestures, but this may prevent at least one headset from using active noise control. Navigate to the Pixel Buds app > Touch controls > Customize touch and hold to set it up.

Many Pixel Buds Pro users were affected. Some users have pointed to a recent Google Apps update as the cause of the bug, which hopefully can be fixed with a server-side update.

According to leaker @Jon Prosser, Google will launch a pair of high-end wireless earbuds dubbed the Pixel Buds Pro. This could mean that Google is re-challenging the high-end wireless earbuds market dominated by Apple’s AirPods Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro are said to be available in a variety of colorways: Real Red, Carbon, Limoncello, and Fog, but we know almost nothing beyond that. Having said that, it is certain that this new product will have active noise cancellation.

In addition, Prosser also claimed that the Pixel Buds Pro will arrive soon, but did not give a specific date. However, it was previously reported that the new Pixel product will be launched at the recent Google I/O 2022 event (May 11, 2022), although there has been no previous news about the headset.
