According to the latest roadmap announced by Microsoft Microsoft 365, Microsoft plans to introduce a reply (RSVP) option called “Follow” to Outlook in March next year to further expand the existing options for meeting invitations. Additional options.

Currently, Outlook users can choose from three options: Accept, Tentative, and Decline when responding to meeting invitations, and Microsoft plans to further expand the “Follow” option.

Note: The Follow option is designed for individuals who are too busy to attend the meeting in person or virtually, but still want to stay engaged and receive information about the meeting.

Exactly what this option will offer is not entirely clear, but it is expected to include details such as attendee lists, meeting locations and duration. Users may also receive a summary of the meeting, including action points and information about any subsequent meetings.

Microsoft is developing a new version of the Outlook for Windows application and plans to use it to replace the existing mail and calendar applications. However, the specific timing of this plan has caused opposition from users.

Initially, Microsoft sent a message to Microsoft 365 administrators that the new version of Outlook would replace the Mail and Calendar apps starting in September 2024. However, this timing was met with some user dissatisfaction, and Microsoft then sent another message saying that it was “re-evaluating the timeline.

Now Microsoft has posted a new article in the Microsoft 365 messaging center stating that it won’t replace the Mail and Calendar apps with Outlook until sometime “late next year. This vague timeline suggests that Microsoft still hasn’t given a firm date and that it may take some time before a decision is made.

The article also says that while Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscribers will have access to the new Outlook for Windows app, users without a subscription “will need to manage their email and calendar in the web version of Outlook” after the Mail and Calendar apps are phased out. “. This may seem like an odd decision, as some users may only want to use the Outlook for Windows app as a desktop email client, Microsoft has in fact released the latest version of the Outlook app for Mac computers and does not require a Microsoft or Office 365 subscription.

There’s still a lot of time before all these changes are implemented, so Microsoft may make some additional adjustments to its plans in the coming weeks or months.

Microsoft is working on the “One Outlook” mail application internally codenamed “Project Monarch”, and last year on the Microsoft Store, the application called “Outlook for Windows”, invited a small number of users to test the new Outlook experience.

The latest news is that Microsoft has already started planning to replace the native “Mail” app in Win11 and Win10 with the “Outlook for Windows” app.

The UWP Mail app on Win11 / Win10 platforms already has a “Try the preview” button. Users are asked to download Outlook for Windows when they click on it, suggesting that Microsoft is planning to replace the native Mail app on the Win10 / Win11 platform.

The only problem is that the current “Outlook for Windows” application is still not perfect, there are many missing features and the available functionality is not refined enough.

The foreign press has followed the steps to download Outlook for Windows, which works alongside the existing UWP Mail app. Outlook for Windows is a PWA application, however, so the interface is very similar to the web version of Outlook.com.

Microsoft Outlook today received a new feature that allows users of the web version of Office to search for attachments shared in Microsoft Outlook. This improvement is currently limited to the desktop version of Office and will only take effect when users search for files shared by a specific user, and only the recipient/sender of that email will be able to access those attachments.

Microsoft BillBär said in a blog post.

"When using Microsoft Outlook, users can quickly choose to send a document as a traditional attachment or upload it to OneDrive and share a link to the file. Sending a link in an email that jumps to a OneDrive or SharePoint document can reduce the size of the email.

If you choose to send as an attachment, you can attach the entire document to the email just as you would if you were selecting the file on your computer. Now you can search for those legacy attachments in Outlook through Microsoft Search."

For some time now, there has been a bit of rigidity in how people interact via email, from how to send an email to composing a response. While it’s extremely essential to speak clearly and ensure that the message information is properly relayed to the recipient, there are situations where a response may seem a bit redundant. According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, users may soon be able to respond to emails in the simplest way possible with just one click in Outlook.

To use this feature, the email must first be sent by a member of the same domain. If this is the case, then the user will be able to see a reaction icon in the sent message screen. Hovering over the icon will reveal six possible reactions, namely thumbs up, heart, celebrate, laugh, surprised or sad. What’s more, it’s also possible to choose from the different thumbs-up reactions and identify one that is relevant to replying to an email, and the next time you use that emoji, Outlook will recall your choice.

Similar to the way reactions are made in Microsoft Teams to messages sent in chats or channels, users can now use any of the over 800 available Teams emojis and the recipient of the reaction will also receive a summary email.

In addition, everyone in the email conversation will be able to see the same reaction as long as they are also using the same domain. In addition, with the notification feed, email senders will be able to easily see how people are using emojis to interact with their messages.

The feature is expected to roll out to Outlook for iOS, Outlook for Android, Outlook on the web, Outlook for Mac and the new Outlook for Windows in late October, while classic Outlook for Windows users should be able to access it.

A new version of the Outlook app installer has been sneaked in. After installation, you can sign in and use it with your own personal Microsoft account, and it is also available to users who have not previously participated in the Insider program. In May this year, Microsoft announced a new Outlook for members of the Office Insider program in the Beta channel, but unfortunately, it was limited to some users at the time, and only for business users.

This sneak peek of the installer is different, though, as it is web-based. In terms of look and feel, it’s basically the same as the existing Outlook for Windows but introduces some new features such as message alerts and a new calendar board. It also offers Microsoft Loop components for seamless collaboration across Outlook and Teams. And you can import settings from Classic Outlook.

While the sneak peeks version is currently available for personal Microsoft accounts, you still can’t use it for third-party email accounts. But in an announcement this May, Microsoft said Gabriel Valdez Malpartida, senior product marketing manager for Microsoft’s Outlook team, listed a number of features and capabilities that Microsoft is developing, planning and investigating. Some of these are multi-account, offline and third-party account support for Gmail, Yahoo!
