According to the latest research report released by the market research agency CIRP, the four iPhone 14 models in the US market accounted for 75% of all iPhones in the first quarter of 2023.

It’s worth noting that January to March is the second full quarter for Apple’s iPhone 14 series to go on sale. “These numbers are important to understanding Apple’s performance and we revisit them every quarter,” CIRP said.

The main contents of the attached report are as follows:

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max were the best sellers with 22% and 24% shares respectively. The iPhone 14 came in third, accounting for 19% of the total.

The iPhone 14 Pro models jumped from 15% in the fourth quarter of 2022 to 22% in the first quarter of 2022, making them more popular than the more affordable iPhone 14.

Although the iPhone 14 Pro Max is still the highest-selling of all models, its share has dropped by 4 percentage points compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 (28%).

CIRP highlighted that the three-quarters share of the iPhone 14 series has increased from 71% for the iPhone 13 series a year ago.

Some iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max users are reporting a horizontal line flashing on the iPhone display when the device is turned on, but there is no clear reason or how to fix it.

In a Reddit thread, dozens of iPhone 14 Pro users reported that one or more green and yellow lines may blink on the screen when the device is turned on and disappear after a few seconds. According to these users, Apple support has informed them that the issue is not the result of a hardware defect, but rather a buggy iOS 16 bugs.

The problem appears to have started after the iOS 16.2 update, although some users have reported that the issue even occurs on older versions of iOS 16. One user on Reddit said that an Apple engineer told them on the phone that Apple is working on a software patch for the issue, but the details are unclear.

Apple is currently testing iOS 16.3 for developers and public testers, but the update is not expected to launch until early next year. iOS 16’s latest official release is iOS 16.2, which includes several new features, including Apple Music singing, a new Infinity Notes app, and more.

Apple has reportedly begun allowing LG Display to supply OLED panels for the iPhone 14 Pro models, along with existing supplier Samsung Display.

Apple iPhone 14

With the launch of the iPhone 14 series, the OLED panels for the Pro models were initially supplied only by Samsung Display. However, Apple appears to have brought in another supplier for the high-end models.

LG Display, Apple’s longtime partner, is believed to be joining the supply chain for the iPhone 14 Pro series, providing LPTO TFT-based OLED panels. According to ETNews, LG Display began supplying iPhone 14 Pro Max panels in late October.

LG Display was reportedly supposed to be part of the supply chain for the Pro models, but initial production delays thwarted its entry, but it has now been approved by Apple.

This is the first time LG Display is supplying LTPO OLEDs to Apple products, although the technology was first introduced in the iPhone 13 Pro. The difficult production process and the complexity of punching the display raised hurdles for LG Display to meet Apple’s standards.

For the past two years, Samsung Display has supplied Apple with LTPO OLEDs for mobile applications, and its display technology is quite stable. With the addition of LG Display, Samsung Display will supply fewer panels to Apple.

With the change in suppliers, LG Display will supply screens for two iPhone models, iPhone 14 Standard and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Samsung Display will supply screens for all four iPhone 14 series phones, while BOE will continue to supply iPhone 14 screens.

LG Display is not just supplying the iPhone 14 Pro model. LG is also reportedly developing folding screens for future iPhones, developing micro OLED displays for Apple’s AR headset, and is trying to enter the OLED iPad supply chain.

Earlier this month, Apple announced that iOS 16.1 will enable a new Live Activity feature that will allow iPhone users to see what’s happening in real-time, such as a sports game or a food delivery order, directly from the lock screen. On iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Live Activity will also be integrated with the Dynamic Island design.

For example, in the English Premier League, the island displays a live scoreboard with the number of goals scored by each club. On a long clock, the island will expand to show elapsed time and game-by-game action.

When iPhone 14 Pro is locked, scores are displayed in a widget on the lock screen. On iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus and all other iPhone models without Dynamic Island, live activity is limited entirely to the Lock screen.

To test the feature on Apple iOS 16.1 Beta with iPhone, open the TV app and click the “Follow” button to get supported events. At launch, Apple said the feature is available for MLB games for users in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the U.K., Brazil, Mexico, Japan and South Korea, as well as the NBA and Premier League for users in the U.S. and Canada only, and that the feature may be expanded to other sports leagues in the future.

Apple says iOS 16.1 will be released later this year. In addition to adding support for real-time activity in third-party apps, the update will include new clean energy charging options for U.S. users, adding support for Matter accessories in the Home app, Apple Fitness+ workouts that don’t require an Apple Watch, and more.

According to foreign media reports, Apple launched in the early hours of September 8 the iPhone 14 series of smartphones, on the evening of September 9 at 8 pm began to accept reservations, and has been officially shipped on September 16, the current listing has been more than a week.

Analyst and research reports and shipping times for the newly launched iPhone 14 series have indicated strong demand for the two significantly upgraded Pro versions, which are stronger than iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

And the latest reports from investment banks show that in the third week since pre-orders began, demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models remains strong and better than the iPhone 13 Pro series over the same period.

Reports from foreign media indicate that an investment bank reported in its report that the delivery time for iPhone 14 online pre-orders remains unchanged at 3 days globally, while the average estimated shipping time for iPhone 14 Pro has shrunk from 35 days to 31 days and iPhone 14 Pro Max is 39 days, a reduction from the previous 41 days.

From the investment bank’s report, in major markets like the US and China, the estimated shipping time after pre-order for iPhone 14 Pro is still over 30 days, while iPhone 14 Pro Max is over 35 days.

While the investment bank’s tracking survey shows that demand for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is better in the third week of pre-orders than the iPhone 13 Pro series, demand for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is not as good as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini.

After many generations of consistently using a 12MP sensor, Apple has finally upgraded the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with 48MP and a larger size for obvious reasons. This difference can be seen in the latest teardown comparison, showing just how small the iPhone 13 Pro’s camera is when placed alongside its direct successor..

Getting inside the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max is a delicate process, so imagine how Twitter user lipilipsi felt when disassembling the camera module, which uses a ribbon cable to connect to the logic board and could break without warning if you’re not careful. In addition to disassembly, the video on Twitter shows the person desoldering the metal housing of the 48-megapixel main camera with a soldering iron, just to show the viewer what the main sensor looks like.

By watching the video, one would think that the person doing the teardown has done it many times, as anyone doing the teardown for the first time would have a hard time getting to the camera of the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max. After finally removing the sensor, it was compared to the iPhone 13 Pro’s camera and the size difference is huge. The larger surface area will allow more light to pass through and capture more detail.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max cameras have a larger sensor area, which should also help when shooting low-light photos. The people comparing the size difference between the two devices didn’t provide any metrics, but from that perspective, we would assume that the 48-megapixel camera is about 60 percent larger than the sensor present in last year’s model. This difference also means that Apple will have little choice but to include a larger camera bump, and we’ll likely see the same change when the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come out next year.

Apple iPhone 14 series can be said to be experiencing a polarized situation, with no one asking for the standard version pre-cold and additional orders for the sought-after Pro series, and as of September 20, Apple’s major offline shops still don’t have any stock available for sale. Today, we learned from Apple’s official website that the iPhone 14 Pro is available for order on the same day, with an expected delivery time of 5-6 weeks, almost until November, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max is expected to be delivered in 6-7 weeks. “The latest delivery time for the iPhone 14 Pro Max is 6-7 weeks.

It is also worth noting that the 6-7 week wait time surpasses the average 3-4 week wait time for the iPhone 13 Pro series last year, making it the longest “standby time” in Apple’s history.

A few days ago, Tianfeng Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple has asked supplier Hon Hai to increase iPhone 14 Pro series production capacity by converting part of the iPhone 14 production line to iPhone 14 Pro production line as demand for the iPhone 14 Pro series has exceeded expectations. He expects iPhone 14 Pro shipments to increase by an estimated 10 percent in the fourth quarter of this year.

It is worth noting that Apple is expected to further expand its high-end market share in the country after Huawei lost its high-end market. The market predicts that some consumers who intend to switch to a new phone may choose the iPhone 13 Pro series, even if they do not choose the iPhone 14 Pro series given the price factor.
