According to foreign technology media wccftech report, AMD cooperation motherboard manufacturer ASRock (ASRock) is preparing the next generation of TRX50 motherboards, used to support Threadripper 7000 CPU.

Reports claim that ASRock is about to launch a TRX50 WS motherboard to support AMD’s TRX50 socket and Threadripper 7000 “Storm Peak” CPUs.

The motherboard has now appeared in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and is expected to be released in Q4 2023.

This motherboard is aimed at workstations, ASRock launched the TRX40 series motherboards 4 years ago across the Taichi & Creator product lines.

ASRock’s TRX50 motherboard is expected to retain the ease-of-use and HEDT-friendly features of the existing lineup and offer more rich features for the workstation market.

Threadripper 7000 series CPUs are now confirmed to come in 2 versions, one supporting 4-channel memory and the other will support 8-channel.

The WS platform will use the LGA 6096 “SP5” socket to support up to 8 lanes of memory and 128 PCIe Gen 5 lanes, while the HEDT platform should use the LGA 4844 “SP6” socket to support 4 lanes of memory and 64 PCIe Gen 5 lanes. The HEDT platform should use the LGA 4844 “SP6” socket for 4 lanes of memory and 64 PCIe Gen 5 lanes.

If all goes well, AMD estimates that the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 “Storm Peak” CPU will be available by the end of 2023.

In the roadmap announced in January this year, Noctua stated that it would postpone the release of white fans until 2024; and in the latest roadmap released this month, including white fans Many products have disappeared.

Noctua plans to release a next-generation cooling system for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors in the third quarter of this year. The release window corresponds to the expected release time of the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors and the new TR7 platform for workstations and HEDT systems.

Noctua plans to launch a chromax.black version for existing desktop coolers in Q4. Among them, the NOCTUA NH-D12L, NH-D9L and NH-L9x65 models are expected to get black versions.

Noctua’s next-generation cooling system, the NH-D15, has been delayed from the fourth quarter of this year to 2024. And the white fan has completely disappeared from the roadmap.

Yu Yuanlin, general manager of ASUS Computer China, released a video on Bilibili. It revealed that AMD will launch the TR5 platform for the next-generation Ryzen Threadripper 7000 “Storm Peak” series CPUs in the second half of 2023.

Although the AMD Threadripper 5000 series was indeed very successful and once killed Intel’s server market share, the situation has changed significantly in the past month as Intel released the Sapphire Rapids series.

Thanks to Intel’s leading features and a stronger modern platform, the AMD Threadripper 5000 series is already showing signs of failure, especially since neither the WRX80 nor the WRX40 series support features such as PCIe Gen5 interfaces and DDR5 memory.

According to ASUS Yu Yuanlin, AMD will now launch its new TR5 platform in the second half of 2023 as the successor to the AMD TR4 platform in the Threadripper series. We expect Intel to launch the Emerald Rapids-SP family in Q4 as well.

AMD EPYC

According to previous revelations, similar to Intel Sapphire-WS, AMD “Storm Peak” series Threadripper 7000 processors will also be divided into two product lines, HEDT and Workstation (WS).

The HEDT series can support four-channel DDR5 memory and have 64 PCIe Gen5 lanes, while the more advanced Threadripper 7000 PRO should support eight-channel DDR5 and offer up to 128 PCIe Gen5 lanes, while details such as core count or TDP are yet to be confirmed.

At present, AMD has not yet confirmed their plans to launch Zen4 in the workstation market, and even the consumer-grade AM5 Ryzen 7000 series has not even launched a PRO product for the business market, so the rumor that Threadripper will be released in 2H 2023 still needs official confirmation, IT Follow-up will also bring further reports.

AMD HEDT: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 4-lane DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / 4096 SP6 socket

Intel HEDT: Xeon W-2400 (10nm Golden Cove / 4-lane DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 socket

AMD WS: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 8-lane DDR5 / 128 PCIe Gen 5 / 6096 SP5 socket

Intel WS: Xeon W-3400 (10nm Golden Cove / 8-lane DDR5 / 112 PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 socket
