Yu Yuanlin, general manager of ASUS Computer China, released a video on Bilibili. It revealed that AMD will launch the TR5 platform for the next-generation Ryzen Threadripper 7000 “Storm Peak” series CPUs in the second half of 2023.
Although the AMD Threadripper 5000 series was indeed very successful and once killed Intel’s server market share, the situation has changed significantly in the past month as Intel released the Sapphire Rapids series.

Thanks to Intel’s leading features and a stronger modern platform, the AMD Threadripper 5000 series is already showing signs of failure, especially since neither the WRX80 nor the WRX40 series support features such as PCIe Gen5 interfaces and DDR5 memory.
According to ASUS Yu Yuanlin, AMD will now launch its new TR5 platform in the second half of 2023 as the successor to the AMD TR4 platform in the Threadripper series. We expect Intel to launch the Emerald Rapids-SP family in Q4 as well.

According to previous revelations, similar to Intel Sapphire-WS, AMD “Storm Peak” series Threadripper 7000 processors will also be divided into two product lines, HEDT and Workstation (WS).
The HEDT series can support four-channel DDR5 memory and have 64 PCIe Gen5 lanes, while the more advanced Threadripper 7000 PRO should support eight-channel DDR5 and offer up to 128 PCIe Gen5 lanes, while details such as core count or TDP are yet to be confirmed.

At present, AMD has not yet confirmed their plans to launch Zen4 in the workstation market, and even the consumer-grade AM5 Ryzen 7000 series has not even launched a PRO product for the business market, so the rumor that Threadripper will be released in 2H 2023 still needs official confirmation, IT Follow-up will also bring further reports.
AMD HEDT: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 4-lane DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / 4096 SP6 socket
Intel HEDT: Xeon W-2400 (10nm Golden Cove / 4-lane DDR5 / 64 PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 socket

AMD WS: Threadripper 7000 (5nm Zen 4) / 8-lane DDR5 / 128 PCIe Gen 5 / 6096 SP5 socket
Intel WS: Xeon W-3400 (10nm Golden Cove / 8-lane DDR5 / 112 PCIe Gen 5 / LGA 4677 socket
