Sony Camera Remote released: support remote control ZV-E1 camera

Ltd. released a new version of its Camera Remote SDK (version 1.08) software development kit, which allows remote control and setting changes for Sony cameras, enables faster processing and supports more functions, and expands the compatible models.

Sony Camera Remote SDK version 1.08 supports Sony’s flagship full-frame Vlog camera ZV-E1, released on March 29, with a number of optimizations and improvements, as summarized is as follows:

Processing speed improvement: When shooting repetitive scenes, the processing time for setting up, shooting and transferring files is reduced by about 20%, effectively improving work efficiency. For example, in the e-commerce field, users will significantly reduce the shooting cycle when shooting 360-degree wrap-around photos. Taking more photos in less time means optimizing the length of time the camera is used. It also further improves the efficiency of shooting such as drone mapping or industrial inspection.

New electrical signal-triggered shutter and remote on/off support (ZV-E1): In photogrammetry, studio and road traffic management, electronic signal triggering will improve the accuracy of image capture compared to using software triggering.

Remote menu setting for video: Menu remote setting, including picture profiles and Time Code (TC)/User Bit (UB) settings, is available when shooting video, optimizing the workflow of video production and expanding the possibilities of image capture.

"Overheat Alert" status notification: This feature allows the camera to remotely notify the user when the temperature rises significantly⁴, such as when the camera is used in outdoor scenarios such as desert roads, or in computer system integration environments that tend to generate high heat, allowing the user to remotely monitor the camera for overheating.

Sony’s flagship full-frame vlog camera, the ZV-E1, went on sale at the end of March for $15,499 for a single body and is currently Sony’s lightest and smallest full-frame microsingle, with an approximate 12.1 effective megapixel full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor that supports 4K 60p video capture and can be upgraded in post for 4K 120p / FHD 240p for up to 5x 4K slow-motion smooth video.
