Qualcomm previously announced the Snapdragon 780G chip, along with the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. The Xiaomi 11 Youth Edition debuted with an exclusive Snapdragon 780G chip, and the OPPO Reno 8 Pro debuted with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. However, there are only a few new post-launch models.

The news is that Samsung is taking the blame for the process, and Weibo blogger @DigitalChatStand revealed that “a new Snapdragon 7 series platform is being tested with TSMC 4nm process”.

The blogger also said that next year, mid- to high-end phones are TSMC process, Snapdragon 7 series chips can also be the main performance. Qualcomm is expected to release iterations of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chips in the future.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip, released in May, is based on Samsung’s 4nm process and includes four 2.4GHz Cortex-A710 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores. Featuring the Adreno 662 GPU, it offers 20% faster performance than its predecessor. It also features the X62 5G modem, which enables 4.4Gbps download speeds and dual 5G connectivity. WiFi-6E and Bluetooth 5.3 are supported, as well as Snapdragon Sound and aptX. The chipset supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
