Ford announces electric vehicle plans, expects 2 million units per year by 2026

VantageHub reported that the automaker Ford today (26) released the Ford Electric Book, which is expected to invest $50 billion by 2026 to build electric vehicle production bases, battery module R&D centers and other hardware facilities around the world, with the goal of increasing total electric vehicle production capacity to 600,000 units next year and reaching an annual production capacity of 2 million units in 2026.

Ford explained that with the establishment of Modele, a new electric vehicle R&D department, it is expected to produce 2 million electric vehicles by 2026.

Ford revealed that among these seven new electric vehicles, in addition to the three models of general passenger car-class mid-size crossover electric CUV, sport electric CUV and Puma electric version, Ford aims at the future transformation trend of transportation and logistics manufacturers, and plans to launch Transit Courier, Tourneo Courier, Transit Custom and Tourneo Ford plans to launch four new electric vehicles, including the Transit Courier, Tourneo Courier, Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom.

However, Ford stressed that it is not in a hurry to abandon oil to electricity and will first invest $7 billion to build the brand’s newest battery production campus. This is the largest one-time investment ever made by a U.S. automaker and will include a joint venture with Korean battery maker SKInnovation to develop an electric vehicle production site in Tennessee and a battery industry manufacturing campus in Kentucky, according to the report.
