Snapchat taps former Microsoft exec for key ad sales role

0

The US developer of the post-read social app Snapchat, has reportedly hired former Microsoft advertising chief Rob Wilk as president of the company’s Americas region, reporting to chief operating officer Jerry Hunter. It’s a top ad sales role for Snapchat, which has been seeking a successor to the position after executives Jeremi Gorman and Peter Naylor jumped ship to Netflix last year.

Rob worked at Microsoft for nearly eight years and was global head of advertising before leaving in early March.

Snapchat faces a tough task to grow its ad revenue as advertisers scale back spending in a broader environment and the rise of TikTok eats into Snapchat’s ad market share. Rob will face a huge test after joining Snap, which reported overall revenue of $1.3 billion in the fourth quarter of last year, the same as the same period in 2021.
