The 5ch bulletin board now exposed a Sigma 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens that will be released soon. Though a hefty 1kg, it seemed like a great lens for a 14mm prime, and it quickly became a hot topic on 5ch.

It is described as the world’s first 14mm F1.4 lens.

  • Lens construction: 15 groups of 19 lenses (3 FLD, 1 SLD, 4 aspherical lenses)
  • Nearest shooting distance: 30cm
  • Maximum magnification: 1:11.9
  • Number of aperture blades: 11 pieces (circular aperture)
  • Size: 101.4 x 149.9mm (151.9mm for the E-mount version)
  • Weight: 1170g (1160g for E-mount version)

This features a large F1.4 aperture, which is rare in ultra-wide angle lenses, and seems to be a very attractive option for astrophotography users.

It is a large f1.4 size lens, weighing more than twice the weight of the Sony “FE 14mm f1.8 GM” of 209,000 yen (currently about RMB 10,659) and 1.5 times the overall length of the Sony, and it is curious to see what kind of optical performance it will have.

It is worth mentioning that although it is super wide angle, it corresponds to the TS-141 tripod mount, and uses the GP-11 guide plate, and the 14mm F1.4 pair is also compatible with the rear filter mount.

It was also previously announced that Vizos will soon release an AF 16mm F1.8 Sony E-mount full-frame ultra-wide angle lens with a small window screen that displays parameters such as focus distance. The lens is a non-bulb head, can be used with 77mm round filter.
