Seagate Technology has now released a new line of collectible SSDs inspired by iconic Star Wars galaxy characters, featuring a changeable panel design to honor Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.
The Seagate Cool Play Special Edition NVMe SSD is officially licensed by Lucasfilm and features three iconic lightsaber designs printed on the changeable heat sink panel to represent the three famous characters, so gamers can choose between Jedi or Sith style depending on their preference, according to the release. The drive comes with customizable RGB LED lighting effects that glow through the drive’s faceplate. The drive features a unique load mechanism designed by EKWB that places a transformable panel on the surface of the SSD and the heat sink, with an integrated passive heat sink to maximize heat dissipation and maintain peak performance for longer.
With capacities up to 2TB and sequential read speeds as fast as 7,300 MB/sec, the drive offers up to 2550 total bytes written (TBW) and comes with Seagate’s five-year limited warranty and three years of original data recovery services from Rescue Data Recovery Services.
The Seagate Cool Play Lightsaber Special Edition PCIE Gen4 NVMe SSDs are available now for $184.99 for 1TB (currently about $1273) and $289.99 for 2TB (currently about $1995).
