In terms of system version changes, Samsung is undoubtedly the leader in the Android lineup. Samsung announced in 2019 that it was the first manufacturer to promise to provide 3 generations of Android version updates for mid-range and flagship models; Samsung then extended the support plan to 4 generations, which created a precedent in the Android camp.

Under the leadership of Samsung, OnePlus also recently announced that it will provide 4 generations of Android version updates for phones, and provide an additional year of security updates. While extending the device support cycle, Samsung is also accelerating product version changes.

As of December, more than 40 Galaxy phones have deployed Android 13 / OneUI 5 updates, and the number of such product updates has far exceeded that of other Android phone manufacturers.

Samsung’s past Android version changes are usually concentrated in high-end models. Samsung will focus on the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z series until 2022. These high-end devices will be released in the same year as the major Android version update, while mid- and low-end models will be launched next year.

However, Samsung has changed its update strategy in 2022. It can be frequently seen that Samsung devices are upgraded to Android 13 / OneUI 5.0. And new devices are being upgraded to Android 13 almost every day. In addition to the Galaxy S series flagships, models like the Galaxy A22 5G and Galaxy M33 5G have also received upgrades.
