Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong was pardoned and has regained all rights

After receiving the pardon, Lee Jae-yong will have the right to succeed his late father as the head of Samsung and address the challenges the company is currently facing.

Lee was convicted of bribery and embezzlement in January 2021 and was sentenced to 30 months in prison for the crime. But he was released on parole last August after serving 18 months, after which Lee was restricted from practicing his profession for five years. But now, after the pardon, Lee has regained all his rights.

The president of South Korea, Yoon Seok-yeol, said in a previous interview that the most important thing about this pardon is to “focus on people’s livelihood and economic recovery”.
