Last April, Samsung released the mobile SSD T7 Shield, only 1TB and 2TB version. Recently, Samsung launched a 4TB version of the T7 Shield mobile SSD, with a debut price of CNY 2,399, which is now officially on sale.
The 4TB version is only available in “Night Black” and is claimed to be resistant to drops of up to 3 meters, as well as being IP65 rated for dust and water resistance. Despite the new durable design, the T7 Shield is still compact and lightweight, weighing only about 98 grams.
The T7 Shield has a read speed of 1050MB/s and a write speed of 1000MB/s, which is Samsung’s current maximum transfer speed based on the USB 3.2 Gen2 standard. This speed is about 2 times faster than its Samsung T5 and 9.5 times faster than the Samsung external mechanical hard drive HX-MTD10EA.
Samsung has also optimized the interior and exterior of the product to avoid performance degradation and overheating problems when transferring large files by changing the surface material and improving the software of the T7 Shield. Thanks to this improvement, performance is maintained even when transferring 2TB of files at once.
