In response to allegations of these fake moon photos, Samsung told the TomsGuide website: “Samsung is committed to providing the best photo experience under any conditions. When users take pictures of the moon, AI-based scene optimization technology will recognize that the moon is the main subject, And do a multi-frame composite, then the AI will enhance the image quality and color details. It will not apply any image overlay (image overlaying) to the photo. That said, Samsung has denied any suggestion that the Galaxy S23 Ultra uses AI-based image overlay technology to enhance details in moon photos. There is no conclusive evidence yet whether Samsung used AI-based image overlay technology for moon photos. However, Another photographer, Fahim Al Mahmud Ashik, showed how to use any modern high-end phone (including Apple iPhone 14 Pro and OnePlus 11) to take clearly visible pictures of the moon. The photographer released a full video showing how he managed to capture these images, which means that many brands are faking moon images, or not at all.
