Samsung pushing for Exynos chips to return to Galaxy flagship phones

The company’s executive vice president of Samsung System LSI, Kwon Hyuk-man, said at an earnings meeting that “we are pushing for the return of Exynos to the Galaxy line of flagship phones.

Samsung Electronics reported 1Q 2023 revenue today, and during the earnings call, Kwon Hyuk-man said, “The 3nm foundry business has already piloted chips for customers, and the 2nm process is currently under development with the goal of mass production by 2025.

Responding to a question about whether the Galaxy S24 series to be released next year will be powered by Exynos, Samsung Electronics said at the conference: “The MX business is an important consumer-facing division that will supply chips to Galaxy phones to meet the needs of all market segments. We are also working on re-entry”.

Kwon Hyuk-man continued, “As growth in the mobile market slows, we need to be prepared for it. Our short-term strategy is to strengthen our competitiveness in mobile SoCs and gradually expand into non-mobile areas such as electric vehicle SoCs”.

The recent news and found that the Exynos 2400 has an average single-core score of 1530 and a multi-core score of 6210 on Geekbench 5; for comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy has a single-core score of 1556 and a multi-core score of 4987.
