Samsung Galaxy 100x Space Zoom was again questioned by foreign users P Moon

Samsung introduced the Space Zoom zoom function for the Galaxy S series Ultra models, which can provide up to 100 times magnification.

However, a Reddit user tested that the photos taken through Space Zoom were made by Samsung using AI models to add detail to the high-resolution images, which is now hotly debated.

The user claims that many people have previously questioned Samsung’s use of AI to P-map images of the moon, and no one has found definitive proof. What he did was to download a near-perfect image of the moon from the Internet, shrink it to a resolution of 170 x 170, and perform a Gaussian blur to remove all details.

He then enlarged the blurred image to 4x and turned off all the lights in the room, walked to the other end of the room, took a picture through the Space Zoom feature of his Samsung phone, and put up a comparison of the blurred moon image and the image taken from his phone.

As you can see from the picture, the moon captured by the Samsung phone has a wealth of detail. The user said that Samsung utilized an artificial intelligence model that incorporated details in the image that were not in the original image, such as the craters in the right image.

Samsung phones have been questioned to modify the moon image through AI, as early as the beginning of 2021, some users questioned the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 100x zoom, and Samsung officials have also said that they used AI to “improve the quality” of the images taken by the phone.
