According to the data displayed on the AMC Theaters website, the film length of the upcoming “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” released in North America is 2 hours and 16 minutes. If true, the film would be one of the longest animated films of all time.
Animated films are usually aimed at children, and the length is usually kept in check because they don’t want to lose the audience’s attention. For example, the Super Mario Bros. movie has a duration of 1 hour and 32 minutes.
At 136 minutes, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” would be the 22nd longest animated film of all time, tying it with four 136-minute films.
Note: “In This Corner of the World” is the longest animated film, reaching 168 minutes.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is jointly produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment. The film tells the story of “Little Black Spider” Miles Moraes, who vowed to break the curse of “save one person or the entire universe” experienced by three generations of Spider-Man and fight alone against the Spider-League led by Spider-Man 2099.
The film will be released simultaneously in mainland China and North America on June 2, 2023.
