The latest release of Rufus, a popular tool for creating installation media for Windows (or other operating systems), is now available for download from GitHub, with several notable changes and improvements.

Rufus 3.22 introduces the ability to disable automatic BitLocker encryption in the Windows user experience dialog, along with existing installation options to personalize the Windows 11 installation medium, such as removing the requirement for 4GB of RAM, secure boot, TPM 2.0, and online Microsoft accounts.

Other changes in Rufus 3.22 include support for SHA-1 and SHA-256 x86 acceleration on processors and the ability to save logs between sessions. SSD issues have also been fixed. However, with Rufus 3.22, Windows 7 users can no longer use the application to download ISO image files.

The full Rufus 3.22 changelog:

  • Added SHA-1 and SHA-256 x86 acceleration on CPUs that support it
  • Added option to disable BitLocker device encryption in Windows user experience dialog
  • Added cheat mode (Ctrl-P) to keep logs between sessions
  • Fix potential media creation errors by forcing uninstallation of obsolete .wim images
  • Fix potential access errors in ISO → ESP mode by forcing FAT32 format
