Raspberry Pi supply since 2021 continued to be short, third-party prices rose, so many users turned to other competitors’ products. At a recent Raspberry Pi community event, Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton acknowledged this and said that “the supply of Raspberry Pi is currently being upgraded.

Eben Upton said, “The Raspberry Pi team is now increasing the production and sales of Raspberry Pi, and expects to sell 800,000 units in June and 1 million units in July.” He also said, “It’s been a painful two years since we experienced the Raspberry Pi supply shortage in 2021, but we are confident that the shortage is behind us.”

Raspberry Pi sold only 600,000 units in May 2023; and in the first quarter of 2023, the Raspberry Pi also sold only 800,000 units, which became the lowest quarter of Raspberry Pi sales since 2015. According to the Raspberry Pi Foundation, “This is due to the lack of follow-up sales caused by the previous Raspberry Pi promotion during the Christmas holidays in 2022”.
Eben Upton commented that “2023 will be our strongest year ever for Raspberry Pi and corresponding module sales, thanks to the raw material stock provided by our partner Sony, and the rebound in market demand after a slow first quarter”.
The Raspberry Pi is a miniature single-board computer developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in the UK to promote basic computer science education in schools with low-cost hardware and free software. Each generation of the Raspberry Pi series of computers uses Broadcom’s ARM architecture processor, and today’s models (Raspberry Pi 4B) have between 2GB and 8GB of memory, use a TF card as system storage media (the initial generation used an SD card), are equipped with a USB interface and HDMI video output (with support for sound output), have built-in Ethernet/WLAN/Bluetooth connectivity (depending on the model), and have a built-in Ethernet/WLAN/Bluetooth connection.
