Market research agency Canalys recently released a report stating that Indian smartphone shipments reached 35.3 million units in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 15%.

Samsung shipped 6.7 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6%, and its market share was 19%, a decrease of 2 percentage points compared with the same period last year;
Xiaomi shipped 6.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 29%, and its market share was 18%, an increase of 2 percentage points compared to the same period last year;
Vivo shipped 6.2 million units, a year-on-year increase of 14%, and its market share was 18%, which was the same as the same period last year;
OPPO shipped 3.7 million units, down 4% year-on-year, and its market share was 10%, down 3 percentage points from the same period last year;
Realme shipped 3.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 17%, and its market share was 10%, an increase of 1 percentage point compared to the same period last year.
“While most brands achieved double-digit growth in the first quarter, brands outside the top five continued to challenge the market share of leading players,” said Sanyam Chaurasia, senior analyst at Canalys.
