The much anticipated Ubisoft title, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake has switched studio. The title will now be led by the original studio behind the famed Sands of Time Trilogy, Ubisoft Montreal. This switch was announced Tuesday via the official Prince of Persia account on Twitter.

According to the tweet, “This decision is an important step and the team, building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it’s ready.”

Tweet by the Ubisoft Dev Team

Initially, the remake of the famed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was announced in September 2020 and at the time, the game had an expected release date of 2021. Since that announcement, the game has been delayed twice.

First, Ubisoft moved the release date to March 18th, 2021 stating some additional work is necessary. After that, the developer offered no updates. And now, this is May 2022 and the game has been delayed indefinitely.

Anna Koul, the production manager of the remake has also stated that the new title will be faithful to the 2003 adaptation but they are working on enhancing that experience. This suggests that Ubisoft is prioritizing the Sands of Time Remake project and trying to put it back on track. And handing it over to an experienced studio like the Ubisoft Montreal, additionally who was the brains behind the original, adds more faith. There is still no release date. So, fans just have to wait a bit longer to play the game.
