Cars have gone beyond just big moving pieces of hardware, now software plays an important role as it has with the Porsche Taycan. A new update to the system of this EV is bringing faster charging and an improvement to the range it gives. It doesn’t stop there, there is also improvement in the drivetrain efficiency, user interface and heat management.

This update is coming to the 2023 model of this EV, but our sources tell us that older models can as well benefit. This update comes at no cost to users of the Taycan. The upgrade will be available for all models within the 2020-2022 manufacturing period.

Well, the Porsche Taycan doesn’t have much range to itself as other EVs out there. But, this update adds 50km to the already existing 483km, it’s not much, but it comes close to the Tesla Model S. This will certainly get a user around on a full charge without any problems.

For the charging speed, the company made optimizations to heat management helping the EV charge faster. The charge process still retains the 270-kilowatt maximum rate. What got better is how the system handles a higher charging level (from the station). Since there is better heat management instead of slowing down the charging process, it’ll maintain its charging speed without overheating the battery.

Its drivetrain efficiency removes power from the front wheel in select driving modes. This helps to maintain good braking whenever a user changes the drive mode. The user interface or infotainment system gets improvements in response time alongside other changes.
