Generally speaking, when a manufacturer launches a new phone, it follows the principle of “buy new, not old” and uses a relatively new processor. The new OPPO Reno9 will not follow this “convention”, according to information revealed today by the famous blogger Digital Gossip Station.

It is said that the processor of the OPPO Reno9 will be changed from the SM7450 to the SM7325, which means that instead of the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 778G.

Although it looks like a downgrade, the blogger used the word “upgrade”, which is a bit intriguing.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is a mid-range processor launched by Qualcomm in May this year, with a core architecture consisting of one 2.4GHz A710 mega-core, three 2.36GHz A710 mega-core and four 1.8GHz A510 small-core, using Samsung’s 4nm process.

From its release in May to now, the only two phones with this processor are the OPPO Reno8 Pro and Xiaomi Civi 2. A large number of phones will still use the Snapdragon 778G, and this time the Reno9 also chose to switch to the 778G, which can be said to be quite “disliked”.
