Oppo Thailand held an event today to release the Reno8 series, and in addition to the regular Reno8 and the Reno8 Pro with Marisilicon NPU, we saw a brand new phone – the Oppo Reno8 Z 5G. Calling it brand new, it’s actually a facelift – it has the same specs as the Reno7 Z 5G, the same chip and memory configuration, but it has a redesigned back and a new Dawn Gold color.

The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 695 processor and offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in Thailand. 6.43-inch OLED screen retains Full HD+ resolution and includes an under-screen fingerprint scanner.

The camera is the same: 64MP main camera, 2MP macro, 2MP depth sensor. the Reno8 Z 5G is advertised as a “portrait expert”, while the Reno7 Z 5G is sold in Thailand under the slogan “Take a view for yourself”, which is essentially the same, as the front camera is the same 16MP, f/2.4 sensor.

Since this phone is part of the Reno8 series, it means that the design is similar to other Reno8 phones, such as the camera module extending to the bezel, while using different materials, which makes the Reno8 Z slightly thicker and heavier than the Reno7 Z.

The battery also remains the same: 4500mAh capacity with 33W fast charging support, while the UI is now upgraded to ColorOS 12.1, based on Android 12.

Pre-orders for the Reno8 Z 5G run from today until next Sunday, with public sales starting after August 14, and the phone will cost 12,990 baht, or about $360/€355.
