OPPO’s Comeback: Speeding Up European Market Re-entry with Telefonica Partnership

0

OPPO announced during MWC 2024 that it has established a three-year strategic partnership with Spain-based Telefonica (the Spanish Telecom Group). This move will provide OPPO with a strong operator sales channel in Europe and accelerate OPPO’s return to the European market.

Telefonica’s business scope covers twelve countries, providing fixed-line and mobile communication services, and is the fifth largest fixed-line and mobile communication operator in the world. Telefonica mainly serves European countries such as Spain, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

In the European market, operators are an important channel for mobile phone sales. Through this cooperation, OPPO will open up operator sales channels in at least four European countries. At the same time, with the support of Telefonica’s sales channels and marketing, OPPO’s influence in the European market will also be greatly increased.

It was previously reported that OPPO had to suspend its business in multiple European markets due to patent disputes with Nokia. Now OPPO and Nokia have reached a settlement and signed a global patent licensing agreement, which has cleared the way for OPPO to return to the European market. After clearing the obstacles, OPPO’s sub-brand OnePlus has already returned to some affected countries.
