Possible packaging of the coming OPPO Reno 9 has surfaced on the internet ahead of its launch. Following the appearance of this packaging, a Weibo blogger and tipster shared a bit about the device’s specifications. In the Weibo post, the tipster only shared clarifications as to the processor to be in use on this coming device.

Originally, netizens pointed out that the coming Reno series will launch with one model using the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, but Weibo blogger “factory manager” says otherwise. After showing off the possible packaging of the OPPO Reno 9 the blogger went on to claim that it will use the Snapdragon 778G processor. He also acknowledged that the initial understanding was for the device to use the 7 Gen 1 processor, and gave his reasons for predicting otherwise.

According to his claims, the performance of the more recent Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor is lacking in comparison with the 778G processor. The blogger went on to say that the 7 Gen 1 processor fares badly in areas such as overheating, dropping of frames and so on, for this reason, OPPO might be sticking with the older 778G processor. But, in terms of benchmark performance, the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor is a better player than the 778G SoC, so we can’t rest all hopes on this leak.

Further information regarding the processor to be in use on the OPPO Reno 9 will be made available in the coming weeks. We expect this device series to be available in the first quarter of 2023 with an upgrade to their charging speed as well as a new colour option. Already we know that three devices will launch under this series using both Snapdragon and MediaTek processors.
