OmniVision announces OV08X​: HDR 4K Camera Module for Laptops

OmniVision, a CMOS image sensor company, recently announced the launch of the OV08X, the industry’s first 9.2-megapixel CMOS sensor with a 0.7-micron pixel size that enables 4K video capture in a 1/5.7-inch optical size.

The OV08X accommodates a wide variety of 16:10 (1920×1200) aspect ratio displays and occupies only 4mm in vertical length (y-axis). It is the first image sensor in the notebook computer market that integrates a four-element color filter array and an on-chip hardware puzzle, which can provide high-quality 9.2 million Bayer in real-time (the Bayer format refers to the fact that most color image sensors have only Sensing the color of one of the three RGB channels for cost-saving manufacturing) output.
