Nintendo today released the latest Nintendo Switch system update 17.0.0, which further improves the system stability of the platform, also includes some underlying changes and fixes some bugs.
But unfortunately, although this is a major version update, Nintendo’s official release notes did not mention any specific details.
Nintendo Switch data miner @OatMealDome discovered that the new firmware updates a number of system components. According to him, “almost every system component has been updated.”
Of course, this is very normal for major version updates, because the entire operating system needs to be adapted with the new SDK version.
Among other things, @OatMealDome discovered the following:
- Added new error code messages.
- Various main menu messages changed. For some reason, a bunch of its GUI files were updated.
- Time zone data updated.
- Added new harmony keyword.
Things to note when updating your console
Please perform the console update in the normal state of the Nintendo Switch console.
Modifying the Nintendo Switch console (note: a cracked machine), using peripheral devices or game software that is not supported by Nintendo may cause the Nintendo Switch console to become inoperable due to console updates.
If the Nintendo Switch console contains data that is not supported by Nintendo or stored data that was not created through normal usage, it may not only cause malfunctions, but the data may also be automatically deleted.When updating the host under the above abnormal status, normal operation cannot be guaranteed. Automatic updates
Once you connect your Nintendo Switch to the Internet, console updates will automatically download. After the download is completed, the host update instructions will be displayed before starting the software. Please follow the on-screen instructions to update.
Manual update
To connect the host to the network, you can also go to “Settings” → “Host” → “Update Host” in the HOME menu.
