Nintendo has officially shut down its online store for 3DS and Wii U consoles, and players will no longer be able to purchase games, new content and in-app purchases.

However, Nintendo has not completely abandoned Wii U and 3DS, saying that even after late March 2023, players will still be able to re-download games and DLC, receive software updates, and enjoy games on Wii U and 3DS series systems for the foreseeable future.

Nintendo 3DS is a portable game console launched by Nintendo from 2011 to 2020, the successor to Nintendo DS, the most important feature is the introduction of parallax barrier technology, so as to achieve a similar effect of naked eye 3D.

The Wii U is Nintendo’s successor to the Wii as a home console, first announced on June 7, 2011 under the development code name “Project Café”. The Wii U is the first home game console in Nintendo’s history to support 1080p resolution. Over its lifetime, the Wii U sold 14.01 million units, making it the worst-selling console in Nintendo’s history.
