New Apple iOS 17 feature: Share passwords with friends and family via iCloud keychain

0

Apple has been improving password management over the past few years, encouraging users to set different strong passwords for different websites. In the upcoming iOS 17 release, Apple is introducing Family Passwords, a feature that allows users to share passwords and Passkeys with friends and family.

Users can open the iOS 17 Settings app, and in the Passwords section, they can select either Friends or Family to create a trusted group. Users can specify shared passwords to that group, such as sharing passwords for shared streaming services and online bill payments to them.

Each participant can edit and add passwords, and changes will be synchronized across the group. Users can choose to create multiple groups, for example, they can create friend groups, relative groups, family groups, and so on.

Group creators can add and remove people, as well as delete entire groups. As with regular passwords, shared passwords are stored in the iCloud keychain and are encrypted end-to-end. i
