Netizen spends $250 to open a “blind box” and get $2000 worth of Apple products

Netizen u / Bullet_InUr_Head posted in the Reddit community, said recently for $250 (currently about RMB 1720), successfully bid to get a permit to open the unclaimed storage space. Before opening it, bidders can’t know what’s inside.

Storage space providers regularly put up storage space that has been unclaimed for a long time and not renewed for a long time for the auction, and bidders have no way of knowing what items are stored in these storage spaces, so it’s like opening a blind box.

After a successful bid, u / Bullet_InUr_Head found a rare vintage Apple computer, an AppleColor RGB monitor and two Apple 3.5-inch drive disks, ImageWriter II printers, and even some products still unpacked.

The most noteworthy of these goods are the boxed Apple IIgs and accessories, which were auctioned at a recent auction for nearly $2,000 (currently about RMB 13,760).

The next member of the Apple II product line was the Apple IIGS, introduced in 1986, which differed significantly from the rest of the Apple II product line in that the IIGS had a true 16-bit microprocessor, the 65C816, operating at 2.8MHz with 24-bit addressing capability.

It is expandable up to 8MiB of memory without the “swap slot” problem of the previous model (memory cards larger than 4MiB have never been directly supported by Apple computers) It features two new image display modes that provide high resolution and 4096 colour display capability.

However, only 4 colours (at 640×200 resolution) or 16 colours (at 320×200 resolution) can be displayed in a row at the same time, although a dithering technique is applied to the software to increase the number of colours.
