Netflix will demand payment for password sharing by 2023

Netflix plans to introduce a new password sharing subscription plan that will be official in 2023 with its own unique pricing.

Over the past few months, streaming service Netflix has been working hard to crack down on password sharing. Now, a recent report shows that they might have found a solution to the age-long problem plaguing the application and its subscribers. This solution will see that the streaming platform requires its users to pay a set subscription fee before they will get the opportunity to share their account password with others.

This new feature will attach multiple users under the same account and might come with a separate subscription fee. The owners of the head account will have control of who is under their subscription, hence defining who uses their streaming service plan. However, the pricing of this coming password-sharing feature to the streaming platform is not yet available.

Over the past few months, Netflix has been working on ways to gain more accounts on its platform, limiting streaming to account owners. With this plan in motion, it is set to accomplish its goal, as those benefiting from the password-sharing feature will need to have an account. Having an account allows them to use the new Profile Transfer tool once they are ready to stream with a personal account.

According to our sources, this feature will be coming to Netflix in the first quarter of 2023. Once it becomes available, it will make its way to regions around the world, hence re-establishing Netflix’s mandate that “sharing is caring.” This feature will come with a handful of other features the streaming platform has in store for its users, such as an ad-supported streaming subscription tier.
