Not everyone likes ads popping up while they browse, so when we heard of the Netflix ad-supported subscription tier, we were petrified. This came as a shock to us since Netflix is on top of the streaming game and including ads to its services at any tier might break the streaming experience. But, our sources have been able to gather details on this ad-supported subscription tier, and we can now enjoy a sigh of relief.

Our sources confirm that the new subscription tier from Netflix might include streaming without ad interruptions. At least, this applies to a few movies and programs that are available for streaming on the Netflix platform. The annoying ads will stay clear of kid’s programs and original movies.

According to our sources, “Netflix has told partners it won’t run ads during original kids programs.” This is because it is against the clause under which Netflix operates with its partners. Understandably, the FTC is against the serving of commercials to kids, as it is against the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

But, at this stage of the Netflix ad-supported tier, it is not wise to jump for joy hearing that ads won’t pop up on all programs. This subscription plan is still in its working stage and a few things might change regarding which shows will get ads and which won’t. Netflix is working towards launching this subscription plan next year.
