MSN News Ads Hack Microsoft’s Weather App Disappointing Users

0

The Microsoft Weather app on Windows 10 and 11 has recently launched a new interface and features, but it has drawn the ire of users. The reason is that the app not only removes the display of the air quality index but also adds MSN News recommendations to every page, making users feel like they are being force-fed irrelevant information.

The biggest change to the new Microsoft MSN Weather app (version 4.53.5109 and newer) is said to be the addition of a tabbed bar on the home page, allowing users to quickly view the weather forecast for their favourite locations. There are also new information modules, such as ‘Advice based on the weather’, which gives useful tips based on the weather conditions. For example, it tells users whether they need to bring an umbrella, what clothes to wear, what wind to watch out for, etc.

However, Microsoft has removed the display of the Air Quality Index (AQI), which has left many users unhappy. The Air Quality Index is an important indicator of the level of air pollution and is important information for the health of residents in many areas. While users can still view this index on the MSN Weather website, it is not visible in the app.

To add to users’ dissatisfaction, MSN News recommendations have been added to every page in the app, which can be seen after scrolling down. MSN News is a news aggregation platform owned by Microsoft that offers a variety of news content. However, this content does not always meet the interests and needs of users, and sometimes it can even be of poor quality or harmful. Although the news recommended in the app is weather-related, users still feel disturbed and interrupted.

In short, the Microsoft Weather app has now turned into a replica of the MSN Weather website. This website was recently rated by ForecastWatch as the most accurate weather provider. Some might argue that the interface of this service is not the most convenient or easy to use, but at least it provides accurate weather forecasts.
