Microsoft Test Xbox New features: Silent booting sound

Microsoft is testing a new software update for the Xbox game console that will allow players to mute startup sounds. By turning off the startup sound, gamers can connect their headsets and play games quietly without disturbing others. The new preview update for Xbox consoles, identified as XB_FLT_2210NI\22621.2407.220919-2200, is expected to roll out to members of the Alpha ring of the Xbox Insider program.

Among other experimental features, the update adds a new setting that mutes the startup sound.

Although this setting is not available now, the update allows console owners to go to Settings > General > Volume and Audio Output > Additional Options. Microsoft is expected to add the ability to mute startup sounds as an additional option.

Currently, the startup sound emitted by the Xbox console after it starts cannot be muted. Since the Xbox Series X|S console does not have a regular 3.5mm headphone jack, gamers cannot even plug in their headphones and make sure the sound does not come out of the speakers.
